Title: Rear number plate
Post by: rmvf on July 19, 2016, 08:49:05 pm
Rear number on the 2012 model kept falling of due to excessive heat, noticed the 2016, was bolted on with plastic colour coded bolts, couple of pound from a local motor factor and sorted.

Sorry to say that I would put that down to a penny pinching/lazy Dealership. Double sided tapes may be OK for display in a Showroom, but not on a paying customer's car!

When my first one went back I had to change the plates. The rears had screws in as I expected, but the lazy wotsits at the original dealers had just run a drill through the plates and put self tapping screws straight through the metal rather than using the pre-threaded holes! >:( I always thought they looked a bit wonky... The front ones had been done the same, self tappers straight through the thin plastic of the holder, rather that the thicker bushes provided.

Changed the plates on an X-Trail a few years back for the same reason, they were fixed with double sided tape so strong that it pulled the paint off the bumper.

I can't remember what was on the original, as I've put private plates on, this also happened to my mazda 3 aswell, it's something I will always look at in future when getting or changing cars.
