Title: Can it be done?
Post by: vbl on January 07, 2019, 10:49:21 am
My 2017 AWD CX5 is all singing all dancing spec - but no automatic door locking on entry into vehicle. As I drive great deal on my own all over UK and Europe, I would really appreciate this. Can it be done? And why is Mazda not taking this on board for European market as I understand that US version has this facility? Any advice appreciated

What does the manual say on the subject. The  2018 car I have  all doors lock as soon as you  set off and do around 10/ 15mph.

Sounds as though this feature was first introduced in the 2018 models as my 2015 model doesn't have this and neither was it an option. From the OP's post it wasn't featured in 2017 either.

It became standard on the 2018 model facelift, I believe?

Yes, at the moment, only on the latest models.  You can buy a plug a plug in module that goes in the OBD socket off Ali Express. They take about 4-6 weeks to come but they work quite well.

Thank you for that advice - are you able to give me bit more details? Keep in mind that OBD means nothing to me and I need to start from the first line of instruction page on messing about with the fuses.
Thank you

There is a socket down by the bonnet pull lever.  If you get down you’ll see it.  It’s called the OBD (on board diagnostics) plug and it’s where they can plug a diagnostic code reader if there is a fault. That little black box in the link plugs directly in and accesses the vehicle speed and the door locks.  It’s very simple plug and play and doesn’t need any setting up.  When you drive away it will lock the doors and unlock them when you turn the ignition off.  I haven’t tried one in a CX-5 but I have fitted several to RAV4s.  They work fine.
