Title: Paintwork - a warning...
Post by: BigAl on May 26, 2015, 10:52:18 am
...for anyone considering the Soul red.

I'd already excluded this for a replacement (my current is Zeal red which has been dropped) as it's a bit more expensive that the other metallics (+£120) and I wanted a change. However, the dealer mentioned to me that he'd had an issue with a customer who has a new 3 in Soul red. The customer had complained that the paint on the body didn't match the bumpers. They repainted it twice, to no effect and Mazda then agreed to swap the car for a different colour! I've since seen two CX5's and a 6 in Soul red and - sure enough - you can see a slight difference between painted metal and painted plastics. It's quite subtle and does depend on what the lighting is like.

If anyone is expecting delivery of one in this colour, I suggest you check it very carefully under good lighting outdoors.

Just checked mine BigAl..

Just gave her a good snow foam wash.  A jet wash and a good hand job before a slow rubdown. And she was gleaming from mirror to mirror  ;)

Every panel looks the same colour to me  :)

My 3 week old Reflex Blue is suffering from this, really quite noticeable  :( I mentioned it to the salesman when I was in there having something looked at but haven't taken it any further yet, I guess I should push it?

This is a common problem as the plastic parts are painted separately to the metal body. It is not just Mazda though i have seen it on brand new Fords,Nissans, Peugeots,Kias.
