Navigation System
« on: May 14, 2023, 12:36:58 pm »
Hi Everyone this is a first posting.
In March 2023 i replaced my Mazda 6 Sport Nav with a CX-5 Takumi with the 10 inch screen. Wanting to check that the maps were up to date i discovered that the Mazda Toolbar was not compatible.
Mazda UK confirmed this and advised that a new version would be released in July 2023 along with the latest map update.
As the new CX-5 has a different mapping system to my 70 reg Mazda 6 i was disappointed to find that the display of traffic cameras was no longer showing on the road system as you approached them, replaced instead by a single small camera symbol that appears in the bottom left corner. Now my settings for alerts is set at audio and visual but for the vast majority of cameras i get no audible warning.

The second issue i have is really strange. Travelling along the M5 motorway i get a random warning that says 'congestion charge zone ahead' when i am way out in the countryside.

My dealer suggests i do a factory reset and if that doesnt work to take it back for a software update even though if i check for an update in the car there are none availble.

So does anyone have any ideas before i do the reset.

Thanks, John

Does your car has OTA enabled?
And what is the FW version of your TCU (should be 10020) and the CMU (should be 10030) ?

I assume OTA is enabled because if I go to settings and ask for any software updates it says there are none available.

The other items you ask for take me into unknown territory. If CMU is the software version, then it shows 10008. Other than that, I would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

For some reason my profile shows my CX-5 as 2022 and manual whereas it's the new 2023 model in automatic.

You can check whether your OTA is active if you have MZD Connected Services enabled on your mobile phone : does it displays your vehicle info? Fuel left, maintenance due etc.

TCM means Tele Communications Module, and CMU is Connectivity Master Unit.

I have the procedure to find out the TCM SW version, however I understand that we cannot include attachments here. If our mod, @willpower, allows it I will do.
You already found out the SW version of the CMU, that is via the 10 inch display.

FYI: all SW is EU-xx-xx-10020 (example), including the UK.

Many thanks.

Yes, I have connected services on my mobile so that's confirmed OTA is active.

So, if the mod allows we may be able to get all the info.

On a separate issue I emailed my dealer today because I have heard that Android Auto is now available for the 2023 CX-5. If so they can install it and I could try Google Maps and see if that resolves some of my issues with the mapping system.

AA is normally standard, included in most of the 2022+ models, albeit without wireless.
Checked the forumrules and yes, documents can be attached (only pictures are not allowed), so here you go.

That was especially useful. Thanks.

The TCU software is version 10020 so it seems as though it is up to date.

Regarding AA when I collected the car in March it was not available for the new 2023 CX-5 and when the system loads only Apple Play is available for selection. I am a bit surprised it is not available for installation over the air.
