Title: Boat Trailer - LED Towing electrics problem
Post by: kiakid2 on May 31, 2018, 09:01:15 am
Just spent £1000 on a Wayfarer boat trailer that is pre fitted with “Maypole” electric system for the light – consisting of 2 LED sidelights on the road trailer and a separate light board at the back. All the lights appear to be LED
It has a 7 pin converter to my 13 pin car electrics socket. Both my caravan and road trailer that have ordinary conventional light bulbs work OK without any problems
But do you think I can get the boat trailer to work correctly – NO
Sidelights and brake light work OK but as soon as either the left or right indicator is on everything flashes.
Are LED’s incompatible with the CX5

Sorted – It transpires that the Erich Jaeger control module on the non- Mazda supply tow bar electrics need to be replaced. The module is £65 + fitting

The moral to that is when you have a new tow bar fitted make sure the electrical kit will drive LED’s as more and more seem to be used these days!
