Which Mud Flaps
« on: February 26, 2016, 03:19:18 pm »
Good Afternoon all,

I'm due to take delivery of a 2.2 150 Sport Nav in March and I'm after a set of mudflaps, due to living in the country and the roads being full of mud.

The aim is to reduce the spray up the sides of the vehicle, protect the paint and make washing a little bit easier.

The OEM ones look good for the back but the fronts look a waste of time.

I'm interested to know what others have fitted and their thoughts on them

Any pictures would be good as well.

Thanks in advance for any help

Richard

The front don't do much to keep the sides clean.

With the xtrails i had the door sill helped keep the sides clearer, but not with the CX-5.

I agree with xtrail, I've got front and back and the level of protection for the fronts I feel is poor,
2012 sport nav in pearl white
2016 sport nav in sonic silver
2018 sport nav in mica blue
2020 sport nav in sonic silver
2022 sport black in machine grey

Hi Richard,

I have to say I disagree with the other posters. As a brand new CX-5 owner, I was disappointed with how dirty the car got relatively quickly after driving on the rural roads here in Somerset. After 2 weeks I had the OEM mudflats fitted front and rear - they have made a real difference.  Spray is greatly reduced.  Also had the auto-folding mirror option done at the same time - very pleased with this too.

Totally agree.
I think mud flaps make a great deal of difference, and wouldn't be without them now.
I didn't have them on the CX-5 initially and was very disappointed on how dirty the car looked after a downpour.

With regard to mud flaps anybody fitted the themselves and if so how much of a job is it as I don't want to be laying on the gravel drive for to long.

I fitted some genuine rear mud flaps yesterday, really easy to do using basic tools, took me about 45mins and didn't encounter any problems. Although much dearer than after market ones they fit perfectly and follow the body contour brilliantly. I will order a set of front ones this coming week.
