Original place LHS, new one is on the hatch door itself.

I think I have the same model as you xtrailman, but don;t have the one on the LHS - just the one on the door (with a switch).
On the LHS is a 2 x 1 cut out with a cap on it as if they could have put one there - but no actual light.
Did yours arrive and have it as standard?

And mine is the same, but as I don't do much night driving its no bother.

Um, trust mine to be different. :( Have a switched one on the hatch door shining downwards but non on either LHS or RHS - not even a cut-out for one.
I wonder why Mazda go through all this trouble sometimes because if some have a cut-out for one whilst others don't then that sort of implies two different
boot liner moulds which surely can't be cheaper than the pennies saved by only sticking one light in some models.

I've only actually got one light (in the door panel). The cut out I'm just assuming is where they put a light in other models - unless it is an accessory you can purchase later.

I do apologise I'm not having a good time lately.
I only have one boot light, with every one else saying they had one I thought I should recheck, so sorry again.
Just the one in the door which is a better location than the original, old position has the plated hole now as others have said. 8)
