Cost of 24mile(40k) service
« on: June 05, 2016, 07:07:33 am »
Hi, so not only have I put up with the rattle from the gear lever for a year, the Mazda garage has just billed me €290 for a 24mile(40k) service!. On the bill they have added diesel fuel conditioner and air con cleaner, surly these are not part of the service?. And also they haven't changed the brake fluid which should of been changed on this service(car is 2 years old). Also they charged €105 for oil, outrageous.
Maybe I'm turning into a grumpy costumer, another visit to the dealer(over 25kilometers get there!)
The level of service from Mazda & the dealership is unacceptable.

You might consider it unacceptable, Howard, and it probably is. Nevertheless, you should really have gone through the invoice before parting with your cash and questioning anything that you weren't happy with i.e. the items you mentioned. And as for oil - never ever go empty handed for a service. Always take your own oil (Mazda approved obviously) and if questioned or you're given the old run around regarding the guarantee etc, be ready to show them the manual that states the oil standard required. Not sure how it works in the UK, but over here if we buy our oil through Amazon - which I always have done regardless of car - they provide a credit note which allows you to take it to selected dealerships for disposal free of charge.

I'm afraid you have been worked over by Mazda France.

Long story cut short, I got caught out when I had a brake problem in France whilst on holiday. Ultimately it cost me €2500 when it would have only cost £700 in UK. An all round horror story which involved Mazda Europe (they didn't help much either)

The French have a preponderance towards making the most out of a customer as they can. I agree with Deeps, prepare yourself before getting any further work done by that garage.

I paid around £179 for the first and £170 for the second service which did include brake fluid change.

The second was actually cheaper due to the vacuum pump change, changing this means a oil and filter change would have been done FOC. So I would have paid around £60 extra for the second service.

So around £230 otherwise which isn't far of what you paid at £227.?

But they do owe you a FOC fluid change so I would actively pursue that with Mazda CS, presumably France.

I don't have my service schedule at hand so I'm guessing the fluid is changed every two years as mine was at 14K miles, or at intervals around 23K from memory that was the interval for the Nissan, so I would expect Mazda to be around the same mileage?

Howard I don't understand all your post, what is your mileage, and was it the second year service, or second service, in the UK its 12.5K miles or every year.

In Germany, and you can bet it will be the same in France, service intervals are every 20,000km (12.500 miles) or every year whichever comes first. With me it's yearly by a long way LOL.

Roadside Service which is automatically extended annually is dependent upon these service intervals/stipulations being adhered to.

Hi Guys, haven't parted with any money yet, speaking to them in the week. 40000k converts to 24000miles, so the service was its 2nd service with 40000k on the clock & the car is 2 years old.
The same service regime as in GB.
The main point is they have missed things & billed me for things that are not part of the service.
I suspect this might be the final nail in the coffin for the Cx5.

Nissan dealers can be no better.

They once charged me for a pollon filter that wasn't even changed, £25 for nothing, and not even an apology from the service manager, in fact he was both rude and disinterested.

They later lost the franchise. To be honest having used 3 different Mazda dealers i've found them all useless.
I did find a good Nissan dealer, but he later moved to another make, the best dealer i've dealt with was the Sheffield Audi dealer.
