Servicing.
« on: February 12, 2018, 10:53:25 am »
Hi, my CX5 is now out of warranty and service plan has finished. Should I still get car serviced at main dealer or find an independent garage to service it? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

It's your call, but I guess it's all about money, also how far is nearest independent garage, i have a year left on my cx5 and will be in the same predicament, I pay 18 pounds a month for service plan. I would compare price distance and what service covers. Let us know what you decide in the end and how you get on.

I'm paying £19.89 a month for a 3 year service plan, which I think is worthwhile. I'd rather the main dealer does the servicing on this car. Not bothered about our second car which is older and has fewer expensive things to go wrong.

Main dealer(Jennings) have quoted £329.29 for next service plus £35 for MOT. They also offered a new 3 year service plan for £279.14 up front then 23 monthly payments of £20.20.  Service plan works out at £248 ish per year for service and MOT rather than £364 ish if I pay anualy. That doesn't seem bad for 3 services and MOT's does it?

(Apologies for my ignorance!) What does the monthly service plan get you?  £329 seems expensive for a service to me.

In Dublin, the closest Mazda dealer to me offers fixed price servicing at €175 (£156) - https://www.msl.ie/service/mazda/fixed-price-servicing

I can't remember how much the first service I paid for was, but when I did the arithmetic the 19.89 / month for 3 years was definitely worth it. Might be worth pricing the boat across the water and making a weekend of it though..!

Hi, I got a breakdown of the service plan from dealer. The 3 services the plan covers will be £278/£148/£199 (for 75k,87.5k and 100k services) plus 3 MOT's. Service plan saves £32 over 3 years. Not such a good deal. Car has done 58k.
