Title: Waze
Post by: BigAl on March 14, 2016, 11:39:02 am
As an alternative to the MZD connect system, is anyone else using the Waze phone app? I gave it a try (at my son's suggestion) last Friday, driving to Luton and it picked up and bypassed some jams which the MZD didn't pick up - even with the live services connected. It also seems quicker with routing announcements. Impressed so far!

I used it in Orlando last summer after a suggestion from an American friend and found it brilliant.  I have it on my phone at home now but tend to find it not so helpful in the North of Scotland purely because not many people use it.  However I will certainly use it when travelling down south where the traffic info will be very helpful.

I tried it but found it hard work, since deleted it.

How long ago was that? It's recently been updated to V4 which - apparently - cured a lot of the complexity issues. I didn't try the earlier version, so can't compare myself, but I've been told that it's a lot easier to use.

Probably around two years ago, I tried it after the yanks raved about it.

I would be happy just to have google maps and earth which I use all the time on my laptop.
