Manual Door Lock Switch
« on: September 08, 2015, 11:45:54 am »
Just got my new CX-5 on Friday, looking at personalisation of door locking that seems to rely on using the manual door lock switch which appears to be non-existent (just button to prevent passengers from opening/closing windows).

Is this lack of a door lock switch a 'feature' of the UK models?

The manual door lock switch is the recessed one behind the door opening lever, a bit like a cylinder as it rotates. The red rectangle is visible when unlocked. Rotate the switch inwards to manually lock.

I don't believe I can use it to change the door lock settings as stated in the Owner's Manual and I don't understand why the separate switch that is present in the US Model and depicted in the Owner's Manual would have been removed.

Just checked my manual and yes, the schematic on page 1-6 says there is a door lock switch in the drivers armrest (number 7 in the legend) but my car doesn't have this. As Al says the door lock knob is in the door opening lever housing.

There are options for changing the door lock settings accessible via the infotainment system - SETTINGS > VEHICLE > DOOR LOCKS.  I think you can adjust these settings using various presses of the key fob buttons or operating the key in the door manually as well but at a glance, the sequences looked very complicated!

Unfortunately the Door Locks section in the Infotainment Menu is limited and does not include the ability to change the auto-locking setting.

Not sure what it is you are trying to change...I don't have the new model year vehicle but on mine the door lock is as other posters have described and in the infotainment settings (from my memory) the only thing I can alter is whether the 'auto lock as you walk away with the key' is on or off, and the volume of the beeps it makes when you walk away.

Can you quote the manual to show what it promises and what you can't achieve?

I think this relates to page 3-16 in the manual and the Door Lock Switch and the Auto Lock/Unlock Function (automatically locking the doors over 12 mp/h and automatically unlocking them when you turn the ignition off) but these have asterisks with a footnote saying "Some models". I guess UK cars don't have these features.

Following on from the last comment, just wondered whether anyone had found whether this is possible by some other means on UK model (that don't have the switch as described on P3-16 in the manual).

Also, given that P3-17 implies that the factory setting is function number 3 (which is how I'd like it), that's not the case with my car which is totally disabled (ie: function number 1).

Thanks.
