I have given up on the phone wifi connecting for the past 10 days, but the traffic updates have worked both from the information button giving a list of hold ups and twice it has spoken to say there is slow traffic. And the phone is not even in the car !!! ??

Same here.
That's something I can't work out, I thought traffic needed wifi to work, does anyone know?

I have not played with the nav on latest cars but i know BMW have a sim card in the car to get their own internet irrespective of the phone being on, maybe the latest Mazdas are similar.

I believe that if your wifi isn't connected then the alerts & traffic incidents you are seeing are historical based on regular traffic patterns etc.

I'm not sure as the numbers change.
What would be the point in showing historical accidents for example?

Phone isn't connecting at all now, weird .

OK, so I've been re-reading the navigation manual & it appears that the list of incidents is updated via RDS from FM radio stations & you can select them to avoid during route planning. However if you want 'live' traffic that can update & re-route your sat nav whilst you're driving a pre-planned route then you need the wifi connected.

I thought that at first but they deviantly change from day to day.  When doing phone connection or traffic updates the word Weird comes up all the time.

Now that makes sense.
I think I better get the nav book out again.  :)

Have just got back to trying the wifi function and eventually got it to work, I assume so because I had a sort of modified wifi symbol in the display.  Under the Navigation menu the 'Auto download weather' and 'Online traffic' items are grayed out.
I've used the phone recently as Portable wifi hotspot so I know that it works.
Also when the Mazda wifi was connected, I think I lost the phone connection.
Any ideas?

I'm still having problems myself with BT, according to Germany MZD connect technical i need a module changing. sounds simple but getting the dealer to talk to Germany is getting to be a farce, even with a Germany technical case number, Mazda CS are attempting to sort it today.

With the Wifi if you look closly at the signal displayed when the data is present you will see a "heart beat" pulseing, its very tiny though.
I had exactly the same problem as you yesterday both weather and fuel greyed out, but wifi had a tick next to it suggesting it was connected.
I believe it was but a data signal was not available?

BT and Wifi do seem to be connected some how, my BT failed to connect until my wifi did?

When you say BT does that mean that you are usinga BT wifi hotspot?  I am using my HTC One M8s mobile phone.  Anyway, can't get it to connect at all now - just keep getting 'Network error' retry/cancel

No i'm using BT for the phone calls and music.
Wifi portable hotspot on HTC 510 desire , found under mobile network sharing, i actually just start a app to do it. For the data connection using "fuel" and "weather", suppose to also get live traffic.

Has anyone managed to connect on the WiFi using a windows phone?

I believe the Mazda system is compatible with Android and i phone, but not sure if windows phones can be connected, I'll be disappointed if so as I don't fancy buying a new phone purely to get traffic reports.
