Title: CX-5 (2016) Manual Gear Change Issues
Post by: andyb_ie on June 21, 2018, 09:33:40 pm
Hi All,

New here, I have recently purchased a 2.2 Diesel 2016 Manual CX-5. I've found the gear change from 2nd to 3rd tricky and the 3rd to 4th feels as though the shift is rubbing against the edge of the "H". I see another thread about a crunch, is this a similar sensation. ? Also, when depressing the clutch (always to the floor !) it doesn't feel smooth as if there is a restriction in the master cylinder. Also the TSB 05-002-17-3355, is there a document that has what Mazda recommends of just they have identified this an issue. My CX5 has 31,000Km and a recent (at 26,000Km) oil change and service by Mazda

Is this a normal issue with the gearbox?

I’d talk to the dealer about it. It has all the hallmarks of a DMF which is a big job but let them check and see.

Had a similar problem on our Mazda 3 whereby if you rushed the gear change it would crunch into 2nd gear, if you slowed it down then 'No Crunch' it's down to the oil and baulk rings in the gearbox, seems Mazda have a problem with Manual boxes which was another reason we went Automatic on our latest CX-5
