Title: TomTom System
Post by: BigAl on August 07, 2014, 03:19:02 pm
Having never used TomTom before getting the CX5, I am quite impressed with it overall (especially once they had fixed the issues with the "live" system last year).

However... Is it just me that thinks that the banner which briefly appears stating "xxx Incidents, xxx Miles" is totally pointless? I guess it's telling you how many incidents are currently logged in the Live system and how many miles of road are affected. As far as I can see it's of no use whatsoever and may as well not be there! Or am I missing something?

On a long journey I see various messages about delays and so on, which are regularly updated.
My expected arrival time also gets updated.
I am not aware that it reports anything other than what is on my route.
Note that I update the Tom Tom about once a month. This helps with latest road works etc., and there seem to have been some general improvements.
There is a problem with the updates.
Every time it fails part way through, but you just tell it to update again and it completes OK. Weird.

Sorry, I got the wording of the message slightly wrong. Managed to get a picture, which is hard to do as it only appears momentarily. Still seems to be a singularly useless piece of info, though.
