Question for 2015 model owners only
« on: May 19, 2015, 01:11:32 pm »
I've been told that the MZD Connect sat nav system is not a TomTom based system like the 2012-15 models but that it's Toshiba based. That's not an issue (other than not being able to carry my subscription over), but I'm also told that the new system is not postcode based? If true, that seems like a backward step to me. My problem with it would be that I have to find a lot of customer sites and commercial premises don't generally list a number for their road, whilst they do all list a postcode which - in many cases - is unique to their business.

Can anyone confirm this?

Alan

Alan,

Unfortunately, I think you're right regarding Post Code entry. I've just tried and failed to get mine to accept a postcode - can anyone else confirm this or, better still, tell me how to do it.

However, I needed to find an organisation and searched in places in a town and typed in the name of the organisation and I was surprised that it brought up a selection of addresses - I selected the one I wanted and I was on my way. I'll try this again just to confirm using a more obscure company name to see if it works.

Does seem a bit odd it won't accept a postcode.

Eric.

As far as I am aware the system is still a tomtom one but I am not 100% sure and there is no specific branding I can see.

With regards the postcode it is possible but a bit of a strange way to input but easy once you know how.  Go to the screen where you enter your destination, click on "town" and instead of entering a town name enter the postcode.  Once it is entered click the button for "town centre" (not 100% it says town centre but something very similar and is a couple of buttons down from the "town" button) and then hit start navigate.

Hope this helps.

Useful info indeed. Isn't it strange how most customers these days seem to know more about the cars than the dealers do? I swear that the only thing car dealers are trained to do these days is sell finance.

My wife took a test drive in a Mini Countryman a few weeks back and took youngest son (23) with her. He asked the saleswoman what HP the engine was...

"That depends"
"Depends on what?"
"Depends on what you're doing with it"
"WTF are you talking about" (or words to that effect)

Best of it was, she then asked one to the salesmen back at at the dealership and he didn't know either.  ::) ::) ::)

Skippa / Fangface. Could you look at the sd card and give me some info that is on it please. I have a facelift 2.0sel and have been told that by inserting the correct card the sat nav will work. I have tried tom tom and nav teq cards and neither work. Thanks.
