Title: Sat Nav Questions
Post by: Negativepitch on February 06, 2016, 08:18:25 am
Uk 2016 model
Im sure I read somewhere that you can not use/change the sat nav once the car is moving on the 2016 model?
I might be dreaming about this.

The other question is, is it easy to mind the menu where you can enter just a postcode in the sat nav.
Thanks again for any replies.

Screen touch control is lost over around 5mph.

However the commander is now that good its easy to use, only the select buttons take some memorising.
You also have some voice commands i'm just experimenting with those, yesterday I actually used voice to navigate home, some how!

So today I'm printing out a command list, shown below, if anyone has a better list I would appreciate a link to it. Oh I also changed between CD and USB using voice.

Just to confirm what Xtrailman said, yes the Sat Nav is fully functional while on the move - just not via the touchscreen at over 5mph.

Postcodes can be entered into the "Town" field and you need to include the space so SW1H 0BG not SW1H0BG. (This has caught me out before!). Not the most logical set up but it works quite well once you get the hang of it.

I've only ever use voice commands to make calls so far - must check using them for other functions. Thanks for posting the list of commands.

Didn't want to use MY postcode for the example so I just chose a famous location - first one that came to mind! (I worked just round the corner in Victoria Street for several years and passed New Scotland Yard regularly - maybe that's why it came to mind!!!)

I'm sure I've seen on the website they will update maps twice a year, spring being mentioned although I can't find it now. Can anyone confirm, and any idea when the new maps are released?

Thanks.

I know its to do with the SD card but can the dealer do it? if so how much do they charge? appreciate all response including any cheeky ones.lol

I went online using the TomTom portal and bought a year's updates in August 2015 for £60. You need to download them onto the SD card on your PC but it's not difficult.

Yes, you can use and change the sat nav once the car is driving. That is : you can enable the sat/nav touchscreen wile moving.

However, legally speaking, only your passenger in the other seat can do this  ;)

Take a look here : http:/mazda3revolution.com/forums/2014-2016-mazda-3-skyactiv-audio-electronics/122458-aio-all-one-tweaks

Use at your own risk (actually, there isn't too much als you always can revert back to your old Operating System).

Using an USB-stick will do the trick(s), however read the readme.txt very carefully if you are not familiar with software changes/modifications in general.

For the 2016 Mazda version the map updates are free of charge for three years. Given a choice I'd pay for the TomTom system, it's much better.

Folks had a few issues with sat nav not loading at all just grey spinning cog/wheel for minutes on end, anyone had this? And has it led to any further issues? This is the 2016 model I'm talking about. In the end it started working after ignition was switched off a few times. It's going in for first service next month I will mention it to dealers.

Second point on sat nav my car will be 5 years old soon can the dealers update my map/etc?  If so how much does it cost fed up of seeing myself in a green field, lol. Appreciate forum members experience and points of view, thanks
