So far the only irritation. My music collection on my USB stick always reverts to track one every time you start the engine. Can get a little annoying and I'm beginning to loathe track one!

Dealer told me that (allegedly) a software fix is in the pipeline in next few months

I purchased my car in Oxford in Mar14 and this issue affects music on USB stick or iPod via USB.  Other issues are if you connect an iPod using USB it takes a long time as each time you start up the system, it downloads the entire music collection.  Same for setting up iPhones via bluetooth.  You wait a fair amount of time before it has downloaded your phonebook and music collection before you can either make a call or listen to your music.  The one positive......it does not return to track 1 each time!

I contacted Mazda and they were not remotely interested in the issue and I dd ask if they had a software fix coming along as I had read about it on this plus a US form.  They had no idea and seemed to think not.

All-in-all, the infotainment systems is rubbish compared to other cars I have had......shame on Mazda!

I've found in the past that posting a sarcastic/awkward question on their Facebook page sometimes gets a better response (and often gets support from other owners with the same problem).

I got a new CX-5 3 weeks ago. Having had a Prius+ before I was used to an entertainment system that worked superbly, even the voice control was usable. As susch I was quite disappointed with the CX-5 on that front, great car to drive but the infotainment system is clunky at best. The biggest problems were the USB continually crashing plus the Bluetooth and USB always starting at the same track. USB was taking 5-10 mins to start, compared to the 2-3 seconds of the Toyota.

So I visited the dealer to complain and they ordered a new Bluetooth module. It took a couple of weeks to arrive but things are now much better. Both USB and Bluetooth now start from where you left off and a few other things work. It is much faster to start the first track, probably 10-20 seconds via USB and a little longer via Bluetooth. Once the first track starts there is a couple of minutes wait before you can change track while they are loaded but at least the system is now usable. The wait it seems is due to the large number of people getting their systems fixed, the module is on an exchange basis so I assume they are sent back to be updated then returned to the next customer.

USB and Bluetooth...

Hi All,
I'm new to the CX-5, having bought a 2014 Sport Nav a couple of weeks ago.

I pretty quickly found that the audio system always returns to playing the first file on either my phone or the USB stick I've put in the car when the car is restarted.

Am I right in thinking that there's a fix for this that I can ask a Mazda dealer to do under warranty? I sure hope so - it's driving me crazy!

I don't think the mk1 usb problem was ever resolved.
Not until the updated mk2 2015 car

I used the CD loaded with mp3 files instead.

Ah, so the new bluetooth module phill104 refers to is only available for the facelift model? That's a blow!

It's always worth a trip to the dealer to see if there has been any progress of a possible retrofit.

Its not clear if phil has a face lift model or not?
I would PM him or phone mazda customer services, or email them, if you email them be sure to include your reg number and maybe Vin number.

It's not a problem just with Mazda - My Jag has the same issue with my I pod. The best I can do is to put it on shuffle.

Sounds promising. Unfortunately I'm away abroad on business for the next couple of weeks, but I'll have a go at this when I get back...

Found this which may also apply to uk models?

https://www.change.org/p/mazda-north-america-mazda-uk-mazda-spain-espa%C3%B1a-update-head-unit-software-for-the-2014-mazda6/u/10158991

Once again.  I must stress that this TSB was raised by Mazda North American Operations.  And is almost 12 months old.  I would advise members that details from USA links are not always relevant to UK/Europe.

It may be worthwhile to remind all members posting links from US sites, that whilst the information may seem to be useful, it should be understood that it may not apply to UK/European vehicles. Especially items such as TSB's.

Take the information on face value for what it is and contact your own dealership if you wish to pursue the information, with the knowledge that it might not be applicable.
