29,000 miles, 17 hours 23 minutes. Journeys probably 80% very short urban and 20% longer Motorway/A roads.

It would be interesting to estimate how much diesel idling for 17 hours would use up.

As I understand the engine stops at the point in its cycle where an injection of fuel (diesel) will ignite and start the engine
Depending on the situation the system sometimes will not operate (especially cold engine) and if the stop is too long - maybe 30 seconds or more. engine is started automatically before it gets too cold.
If the timer is right then that's how many hours you were sitting with the engine stopped - has to be a saving.
My consumption is still terrible. Now I live in the IOM I am going up and down hills all the time. And I have AWD and a spare wheel.
Plus there is no speed limit and the CX5 Sport can live up to its name.

To ignite diesel I believe it needs to be compressed, not the same as petrol which will fire up with a spark.

To ignite diesel I believe it needs to be compressed, not the same as petrol which will fire up with a spark.

Diesel: Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow (or Fart as we used to say in Engineering classes!)...
Petrol: Suck, Spark, Bang, Blow (in reality there's some squeezing too - but diesel squeezes more!)

 ;)
