Title: Radio code
Post by: Hanahsdad on March 02, 2018, 04:08:17 am
Morning forumites on this lovely day  ::)
I have just purchased a 2014 CX-5 and am loving it.
I was planning on fitting a towbar and upon looking at the instructions it says before disconnecting the battery get the code for the radio. You guessed it folks, I can't find a code in my manual. Will this involve me taking a trip to the local dealership and having my trousers dropped or is it more reasonable at Mazda than other STEALerships?

Thanks from another newbie

Radio code? Um, don't have any such thing in my radio. Maybe it's a model thing. But yes, disconnecting the battery means a few things have to be reset later which requires a specific tool/software. If you have such a thing then it's a DIY thing - if not, a dealer job.

Hi
Regarding your radio code. There will never be a printed radio code in your manual, because each code would be unique to an individual car. Anyway it is unlikely that you will need one.   Usually the car will be supplied without a radio code. This means everything will be ok and you won't have a problem.

But sometimes a previous owner might have entered one for their own satisfaction.  Somewhere in your manual it will give instructions on how to do this. Regrettably the manual does not tell you how to overcome the situation.  And quite rightly so as the reason for entering a code is for security purposes.

Your options are, keep your fingers crossed that the previous owner did not implement a code of their own. If it turns out that the radio IS asking for a code, then things get a little more difficult.

I have sent you a PM to follow up on this post, because of the same security reasoning.  This is an open forum and there are some unscrupulous people around.
