Hi ,new member here got my cx5 sport Nav on Saturday ,well pleased I am quite tech minded, but it states in the hand book that when you unlock car via key fob in the dark the headlights should come on ,same when leaving the car in the dark I.e by pulling the light stalk towards you ,it mentions in hand book have done as stated ,contacted Mazda they very vague but said it should work ,anyone any idea,s :(

Does anyone no how to set up the coming home lights on cx5 ,when u unlock car in dark via key fob lights should come on ,Mazda says it should dealer says there not fitted ,as they say its only on the new face lift model when it comes out ,so why does hand book state it has feature ,does anyone have this feature working I.e is dealer correct

Don't have this on mine, so not sure. But if it states in the manual that its fitted, then best bet is to go into the dealer with manual in hand and ask them to explain how it works. If they can't, then raise it with Mazda. Of course, the manual may refer to optional extras which may not have been fitted? Hi all, I am new to the forum and recently bought the new model cx5. Does anyone know how to set the home coming / leaving light. I can activate the headlights by pulling the headlight lever. But not sure how to do this when approaching or when unlocking the car. Just wondering has anyone knows the answer. Thanks

i have posted the same question. after searching the internet i have found the fpollowing
if you turn the light knob from auto to on and then try unlocking the car with the key fob it will work,
same when leaving the car just pull the lever

With the clocks going back I thought it best to put the leaving home lights into action.
I've Just found out how to put the leaving home lights on.
It says in the manual to put the light switch to sidelights or headlight. BUT they don't work if you put it to sidelights. IT as to be turned to the Headlighs on mark. What a phafffff
You'd think if you left in Auto that would be it. Like in a V.A.G. Vehicle

I doubt I will ever use them, I was brought up on cars with dynamos so flat batteries in those days were common place.
Being an retired electrician I prefer to only use the power with the engine running, especially with this smart charging which isn't very smart from my own experience.
The battery appears to get only the minimum charge to keep things going, and it doesn't take a lot of playing with the nav screen with the engine off before I get a low battery start the car message up.
Maybe my battery was damaged when it was drained due to the smart charging not working correctly, but the dealer says its ok according to their conductance tester.
For anyone interested I have a cheap voltmeter plugged into the power socket permanently to monitor voltage.

Also have one in the caravan. Accurate with in 0.1 volt checked against my professional fluke meter.

I alway reverse the car onto the drive and my neighbours house opposite is about 5ft lower than mine. Result is my LED's illuminate the whole of his lounge, so I tend to get the lights off ASAP! ::)

Are those LEDs the standard ones, I thought the DRL were in the head lights?
I don't know as I was really only interested in the LED headlights, I have no problem with my older DRL.
Another question, am I correct in assuming the sport only has LED in the front, but not the rear lights?

I can only answer that question in an indirect way as over here in Germany the range starting from the bottom is:-
Prime-Line
Center-Line
Exclusive-Line
Sports-Line
so you'll need to match the list up with the equivalent models in the UK.
LED fog lights, LED rear lights, LED headlights and LED daylight driving lights come as standard from the Exclusive-Line up.

Yes same for the sport but they don't mention the rear lights, so in Germany are the rears LED?

I was trying to decide if the rear lights on my Sport Nav are LED and I think the rear light and brake lights are but the fog lamp, indicators and reverse lamps are not. This is based on nothing more than how they appear to operate - LEDs = instant on/off.
Getting back on topic, I think it's strange that the coming home light don't operate automatically and the leaving home light won't work with the switch in the auto setting. My 8 year old Golf did this???

Totally agree. My old Yeti had it all automatic. Even had door lights for puddles :-\
