Title: You couldn't make it up!
Post by: BigAl on March 15, 2018, 01:33:51 pm
My CX5 is currently off road having a new front bumper fitted (thanks to someone reversing into me at traffic lights a couple of weeks ago  ::) )
As I knew I was taking it in, I booked a test drive in the nearby Volvo garage for the new XC40 (serious contender for next car). That was confirmed by email from Volvo and a call from the dealer to confirm time.

Got there this morning to find that they had SOLD the demonstrator (they also seemed surprised by my being there). They had another one in the showroom which had been pre-registered but which was also sold for collection in June. That could only be used for a quick 1/2 mile up the road and back. I got the impression that they didn't want to take it out in the wet! They eventually agreed to get it out which meant moving lots of cars outside and inside. Then it wouldn't start... The immobiliser wouldn't recognise the key although the car did open.

After an hour of hanging round I gave up and went back to work. How do they expect to sell cars that way?

Maybe another CX5 after all?

Alan

Seems a safe car from a theft point of view eh?  :) Even thieves have a limited amount of time and patience.  >:( Oh, and some unknown toe-rag clipped the o/s rear lamp cluster of the cycle carrier that I had stuck on the towball a couple of days ago - another 50€ down the drain.  :'( Seems as though the CX5 attracts these morons.  ;)

Some dealers do you make despair.

My daughter was buying her first car last August; we made a 90 mile trip to Glasgow to view two used cars by appointment. The first, a Ford Ka had been sold when we got there. They offered us a drive in another, which we accepted. We then waited 40 minutes while they a) inflated the flat tyre, b) jump started it, c) moved about 20 cars to get it out, and d) went off to the petrol station to fuel it. They knew we were coming and were buying but had not thought to prep the vehicle.

Contrast with the second garage (Arnold Clark) which had the Kia Picanto washed and warmed up sitting outside the showroom, looking immaculate. We bought it.

Getting the basics right is not difficult.

Driving up to Birmingham Airport last week to pick up the Mother In Law in the new CX-5 on the M40 in lane 1. I had a jerk in a BMW overtake then pull in front of me before braking from 60 to 30 mph although there was nothing in front of the plank to warrant doing so, easily outbraked the fool who then accelerated away again. Coming back down the Motorway I had two drivers who overtook and pulled in again braking as they did so. Is this new car envy or is there a bank of idiots out there who dislike SUV’s especially Mazda CX-5’s.
I ask as this has happened to me when driving big bendy toys (Artics ) as well, given that driving something that big and heavy the outcome for the car driver would not be good.
Anyone else out there driving their SUV experienced  these overtake and stop merchants or have I got the corner on this market of dimwits.

Nah She likes swinging her handbag at passing Motorists, mostly BMW's AUDI's and Merc's, I taught her well but she insists on p[laying 'chicken' in Lane 1, I think she needs new glasses

Sounds more likely they were trying to work the "crash for CASH" scam...............

He'd have been doing it from the Morgue, my sensitivity over having a crash is so low you'd have to get a shovel to find it.
