Went to do my first fill up on sunday couldnt open filler lid felt a right idiot with cars behind me at pumps had to drive home to look up in the manual how to open it ( my first mazda) but as i was getting out of car i noticed the cap lever next to the bonnet lever, problem solved.God knows why the dealer never told me on handover. Other makes of cars dont have a lever its part of the auto central locking system or no lock at all.
Is this a jap thing since i have had only vw group cars in past?

On the previous models, the filler release was down on the floor next to the driver seat, so was a bit more obvious. The 2018 model has the fuel filler and bonnet release side by side - to my mind, that's a less safe/convenient option...

When I took delivery of mine I had a 6 before so was used to the lever for fuel cap on the floor,
I had to ask the salesman to show me the filler cap release etc. This he did and even opened up
the filler cap lid, just to prove it. Also asked how much fuel in the tank, there was over half a
tank.!
