Engine/Transmission/Powertrain/Exhaust / 2.2 Skyactive Diesel Oil Control Valve
« Last Post by DaveT1957 on June 28, 2023, 08:55:58 pm »
Don' t ask me how but the connector got broken off the top of my Oil Control Valve. I am having trouble locating a replacement-does any one have a part number for this or know if it is fitted to another car (Ford for example)? Thanks

General Discussion / Re: 2.2d Injector removal question.
« Last Post by DaveT1957 on June 28, 2023, 08:47:51 pm »
I am in the process of changing the head gasket on my daughters CX5 diesel and 3 of the injectors came out OK but the 4th one was a bit tight. Managed to remove it with the use of a large screwdriver levering up beneath the injector holder. Beware when you are refitting the injectors as the holders are made from sintered metal and break VERY easily. Make sure they are level and torque up to no more than 9NM. If they break they are £100 each to replace-guess how I know!!

Had mine done this way and cost £245, £50 cheaper than local Thames Valley dealer, which is way cheaper than your quote.

Vehicle Entertaintment / Navigation Systems / Re: Android Auto

Hi. Sorry for the delay in replying. Been on holiday.

No my AA only works through a USB connection so I use a small cable and keep it and my phone within the armrest so no trailing cables. The downside is I keep leaving my phone in the car.

Steering/Suspension/Brakes / Re: Steering Locked dashboard message

I parked on a hill and turned the wheel fully into the kerb. When I returned it wouldn't start and I had a message: steering locked - wiggle the steering wheel, or words to that effect.

Steering/Suspension/Brakes / rear caliper slider pins
« Last Post by dwlawson on June 15, 2023, 01:24:12 pm »
Just replaced my rear discs and pads. One slider pin on each side has a rubber sleeve at the top which had swollen and caused the pin to seize. Consensus of opinion on the net is that the purpose of the rubber sleeve is to stop rattling but nobody seems certain. I've reassembled minus the sleeve and haven't noticed any rattling yet. Anyone else left the sleeves off and noticed any ill effects?

General Discussion / Blackout on infotainment and rear camera
« Last Post by Clarice on June 13, 2023, 12:47:00 pm »
Travelled up to Selkirk in Bussy our CX-5 2.0 Auto to spend 9 days in Scottieland for pleasure and relaxation, have to say she’s a comfortable girl to travel long distance. Been in the Borders for around 6 days when on reversing——No Camera, then no infotainment either. Wife was somewhat upset as she is only a year old. ME ? Mechanic head on, decided this was a fuse issue. Pulled up and removed the fuse box cover, Gordon Bennett, fuses and relay boxes galore with the legend under the cover giving no hint as to what was covering what, the method used was press lightly on each fuse and relay in which bingo the camera and infotainment all returned. Contacted our local garage to get it checked whereby a fuse was found to be a bit far depressed. My surmising was electrical resistance that I dislodged when checking the fuses. Other than that 1400 miles covered in the week where much exploring was done with Sunshine in play all the time we were there, unusual for Scotland but very welcome instead of the usual old wet weather up there.a
