On my 68 facelift, the power folding mirrors are playing up. It's been on and off for a while. Tried some wd40 but no luck. If I keep pressing the fold button or help the mirror they do fully close. But then struggle to open
Anyone else with a FL had this?

Earlier ones had issues with gears breaking in the drive mechanism, but this sounds different. Some later ones had issues with the drive motors as well I believe. As a 68 it will still be under warranty though, so I'd get it checked out by your dealer.

Have not had this problem on either of my CX 5s (2016 swapped for 2019) but had a problem on both Mazda 2s I have owned. They sometimes would not fully fold or there was a cracking sound when opening from closed position. Dealer replaced the motors in both mirrors (both under warranty). When I reported it when car went in for service rectification was done during the service which leads me to believe this was a known problem as the dealer had the parts in stock

Took my 68 cx5 for 2nd service, when i got back home noticed drivers wing mirror would only fold half way when locking up.Took car back dealer they said when they got it jet washed water must have got in to the motor. it was replaced under warranty as they said it a known fault(so do not jet wash wing mirror area).

I have same issues on and off. Usually due to heavy rain etc. I spray WD40 towards the motor and then manually move mirror back and forth. Has always worked for me.

I have heard that they do not like very cold weather as any water in the mechanism will freeze and can damaged them. Apparently it's a known warranty issue but for out of warranty it's advised to turn off the auto mirror when very cold.
