Title: SatNav Update
Post by: aljshep on November 19, 2019, 03:46:07 pm
From 2015 (I think) Mazda SatNav has come with a 3-Year Subscription.
What happens after that?
If no payment is made, does the SatNav continue to work but without updates?
If payment is made, how much is it and for how long?

I did ask this at one Mazda Dealership but they had no idea what I was talking about!

If you have the sd card type, (Mine is MZD TYPE), you d/load the Mazda s/ware, and plug your card into your PC, after installing the MAZDA TOOLBOX s/ware.

I only have 3mb connection and it took several hours to d/load.

It'll then guide you through the update process. On my 2019 version, it's allegedly updated twice yearly; last one was Feb, so it's way overdue :(

The cards with latest maps on can be purchased from the £dealership£ or E Bay; guess which is cheaper!!

Try this link too, to see latest map versions.

Don't bother as it's the one thing that lets the CX-5 down, it's an absolute PoS + they expect you to pay if you want live traffic etc.   >:(.
My lifetime subscription Tomtom mount sticks perfectly to the CX-5's console display screen, sorted  ;)

Interesting. I wonder would this arrangement perhaps cause long term damage to the screen (lost pixels etc)?

The speed of their servers is awful..as ever.

My d/load speed is only 2.9mbps, but why does my laptop show after
d/loading from 8.50am to 10.20am, only 20% of d/load has been made, on a 7500mb file size?

Took me 1.5 Hrs to download. Then wouldn't install. Messed around for 30 minutes, signed out, signed back in again, then got it started. Then another 1 hour to install onto the card.
Not really impressive I must admit.

Now 14.10; still only at 30%.

And after it has eventually downloaded it's still as much use as a pair of tits on a Nun  :P

We all get it that you hate the system. Why don't you use AA or Carplay instead of continually moaning about it.

As a matter of interest, what sort of BB Speed do you enjoy?

Ay ay calm down love, all my posts on the subject have been tongue in cheek, with emoji's to that affect too. I persevered with the in-built system for a month after buying the car but gave up and have used my Tomtom since.
It's a real shame as the Sat Nav system lets down what I've found to be after owning it for nearly a year now a superb, quiet, comfy great value for money motor.
