Replacing battery on 2019 2.0L Petrol CX-5

(1/1)

Gel:
Noticed my battery voltage at rest down to 12.06v so looking for replacement.
Battery label gives no information regards CCA etc, but VARTA 005 D47 is one
of the replacements suggested, as suitable for STOP/ START.

[Reading spec on RAC website which recommended this VARTA, it says
not suitable for STOP/START; so more research needed"]

Any precautions recommended about swapping battery out?

hovis:
Have you checked the electrolyte level? not sealed battery, also surprised needs replaced already, my old 2013 was on original battery when I traded in two years ago!

Gel:
Will do that later; haven't had non sealed batteries for ages, but wife has deionised water for ironing ::)

Gel:
Cells OK no top up needed.
To view rating of current battery you have to take off battery clamp and it's detailed under
there.
Unfortunately when I removed the clamp bolt [on the engine side], after removing
nut, the threaded rod dropped into engine bay. No luck locating, so off to Mazda in morning!

There's also need to reset the Stop /start.

Found a useful YOUTUBE video on how to reset the iStop [STOP/ START] feature when you change the battery ; personally I don't miss it, as on my CX5 hasn't worked for a time, which is down to battery voltage being somewhat low (12.06v).

Procedure also requires some resetting steering wheel settings.
