Title: Front brake pads
Post by: Archiedog on March 30, 2018, 08:15:14 am
My car is in for its 3 year service with 15,500 miles on clock been told by the dealer front brake pads need replacing £168 fitted. Seems extremely low mileage for pads to need replacing ?. And no I don't drive like a loon.

Yes it seems low but can be dependant on how much braking the car does.  Consider my daily commute of approx 45 miles round trip - I maybe use the brakes twice during each journey.  Pitch that against driving the 1 mile from my parents house to the main street where my foot is almost constantly on the brakes.  Which car wears the brakes out earliest?

think i did my first set at 20k, it really does go by use at end of day, did they explain why they required changing? was it just wear ie amount of pad remaining

I think the milage is low irrespective of milage or brake use. I have just traded my Skoda Superb 4x4 in for  a CX5 after 8 years and 71000 miles and still with the original pads. My 18 year old Land  Cruiser  with 150000 miles on the clock is on only it's second set of pads.
