Though my fob won't need new batteries for a bit, I see that the manual says to take to the dealer for this simple task. ???
Am I right to assume this is a simple DIY task, as it's always been on my other cars fobs?

Simple... But easier to watch than describe

Thanks very useful. I've got one of those plastic trim removers, so
would use that to prevent damage to key fob.
Do you know is battery a CR2025?

Thanks for that Alan. Don't need it yet but will sometime.
Yes, it is a 2025

Done this a few times over the years, very simple procedure.

For Info;
have just had to change one of my fob batteries following a dash warning;
car only delivered in May, and would have expected a better life :(
See fob is actually made by Mitsubishi!
Here's an image of keyfob taken apart:

PS;
For a reason I can't fathom, this doesn't render in EDGE browser, but is OK
in I Explorer.

UPDATED
I wonder if anyone else has had this grief. Battery removed from fob was showing a voltage of under 2.9v.
New one showed 3.3v. Despite fitting new fob battery I'm still getting key fob battery warning
on dash.
Will the system eventually correct itself?

If you have put in a new battery then the car may be seeing your spare key fob and that one has a low battery.
-
No even when miles from home, I'm seeing either "Key Not Present", or "Low Battery" alert;
I'll get some alternative cell batteries & try one to see if it fixes.
-
Where is the key? Not inside one of these faraday pouches by any chance?
-
Trying again with a Japanese Maxell battery, has cleared the fob battery warning :)

I have a low battery warning now after 14 mths of ownership. took fob to timpsons they charge £9.99 to fit but did not have battery in stock.....awaiting delivery.

Changing the battery is very easy. Charging £10 to do it is a rip off. I have recently changed mine. If you watch the video you will see how easy it is. Just make sure you use a 2025 battery. 2032 are interchangeable with 2025 if there is room but there isn't room in our key fobs. For those who don't know, 2025s are 2.5mm thick and 2032s are 3.2mm thick.

Blimey mate, they didn't see you coming but rather sent for you lol. What a rip off.
