Spare wheel in Sport Nav+
« on: June 10, 2019, 02:29:44 pm »
I'll hopefully be the owner of a 2018 CX-5 Sport Nav+ in the coming weeks but had a question about the lack of an included spare wheel.

Can a space saver wheel be fitted under the boot mat? I appears one can't be because of the Bose subwoofer that sits under the mat where the spare wheel would go, but can anyone confirm or clarify?

Thanks in advance.

Spare wheel kit was an option up to 2017 models. That had a space-saver, I believe you can fit a full size spare, but it raises the floor about an inch. As you say 2018 onwards have the sub-woofer on certain specs, don't know the implication of removing that, unfortunately.

I'm on my third CX since 2012 and have never needed a spare or to use the emergency inflation kit. Don't forget that Mazda assist covers roadside assistance anyway,

I believe that a skinny spare can be fitted in the boot, the subwoofer has to be removed and then replaced back on top of the spare

I did a post last year that answers your query. Search 'spare wheel'.

Yes. The sub goes back into the wheel centre but needs a longer retaining bolt which is part of the kit.

I got mine from “the wheel shop” £149.00 including jack etc, and you can get as a separate item the retaining bolt which was I think about £12.00, I just extended the existing bolt with a threaded rod and joint from screwfix.
