Title: New safety features tried out
Post by: dunhill1984 on September 16, 2018, 12:23:00 pm
At last worked out how to work my radar cruise  control, wow its so relaxing when you get used to it-car in front speeds up you do as well it slows you do etc. It even detects their brake lights (my brakes come on sooner).
Also the city brake function lit up BRAKE accross window screen(hud) when i broke late. i am sure its like driving with a driving instructor at my side lol , at least its making me  better driver

How is it making you drive better if the car is braking for you because you ae too slow to do so?

I always thought it was a driving instructors job to teach one to drive SAFELY, the better part surely comes with experience gained over time. My own opinion - for what it's worth - is that many of these modern contraptions such as radar cruise control and automatic dipping headlights etc are simply encouraging many drivers who are already unbelievably lazy to become even lazier in their approach/attitude to driving. That of course is leaving out the aspect of there is now even more things to go wrong. Nothing personal intended of course.

i used to think the same , that i did not want these new driving aids, but seeing i got them anyway(no choice )
they do make a less stressful drive rather than me having my impatient foot on the accelrator pedal i can play with the hifi instead

Where's the shaking head in disbelief emoticon?  Play with the hifi?  Look where you are diving for crying out loud.

Your argument was logical until you came out with this statement. Why not go the whole hog and play with your phone as well? My new CX5 will have these extra aids which I haven't had before and I can assure you that I won't be playing with the hifi whilst driving.

Ive had the safety features on many cars that were hired before the CX5, quite honestly Id rather not have them, if your approaching a motorway from a slip road, theres a line and a beep on your right and the same on your left as cars overtake on the slip road, its just a distraction. I like driving the car the way I was taught, which is safely.
