i phone 7
« on: April 25, 2017, 08:42:31 am »
Morning all, after some help if possible.

I've just taken possession of my new works phone, an i phone 7.  I can connect to the MZD system OK for telephone use, and on the WiFi but it seems the text messaging facility is now disabled.

Before this I had a windows phone and SMS messaging was no problem, but it looks like the i phone isn't compatible, can anyone offer any suggestions?

Text messaging does not usually work with anything "non Apple" as per Apples usual "Apple stuff only works with Apple Stuff" rule

I have a iPhone 6 running the latest IOS 10.3.1 which I've used with my CX-5 since I got it (the car) in 2015. If I receive a text message during a journey, the MZD Connect system will notify me and give me the option to view/listen to the message but that only works for newly arrived messages, not those I have received previously. Also, the option to send one of the pre-set replies is greyed out - so not accessible. I understand it is possible to send replies with Android phones.

You can send replies with an android phone, but they are simple pre determined messages, like Yes, No, driving now, call me, etc. I believe that most of the phone options work better with android than IOS.

You're right Alan, but you can edit the preset messages using the commander.

Go to communications / settings / preset messages, you can select then edit as needed.

Doesn't seem to work with the iphone 7 ( running same IOS) .  I received a text while driving yesterday but didn't notify me on the MZD.

You can force it to check for new SMS manually. From memory, I think its Communications>SMS>Update inbox. And I think the automatic notifications have been a bit variable in the past so may not have worked every time.

Anyone heard anymore about when MZD Connect support for Apple Carplay and Android Auto might arrive?
