Entertainment screen/console
« on: December 20, 2019, 06:10:47 pm »
I am hoping that someone might have experienced and resolved the issue I am having. When I start my CX5 the Entertainment Screen starts as I would expect, it then restarts again and again. The colder it is the more it seems to need to restart, as the car gets warmer it settles down and stays on. I haven’t experienced this in the height of summer. Can anyone suggest a possible cure?

Have you got the latest software?

I have still got the software that came with the car in 2016. How do I update the software?

You'll be out of warranty by now so a dealer will charge for a software update even if there is an issue. If you are brave you could follow the instructions at
https://my.hidrive.com/share/hsodpqja.l#$/Mazda_Firmware/EU%20N/70.00.335C%20EU%20N%20all%20MAZDAs
I've updated mine 3 times over the past couple of years. You MUST have a reliable USB thumbdrive and never let the CMU go to sleep as you need to stay in the car and press the brake pedal for auto/depress clutch pedal for manual every 20 minutes with the engine off and on accessories mode only. If you don't feel confident in following the instructions to the letter than pay a dealer to do the update. There is also a document on the site I've referred to that gives a changelog of all the versions.
The internet is a huge dumpster. You have to look hard to find anything useful.

Doesn't dealer do for "free" when you have your annual service?

I doubt it as it's not listed in the service schedule and it could take up to an hour of a techs time updating the software and making sure the head unit does not go into sleep mode. It would be a very charitable dealer offering this for free out of warranty. (There goes a flying pig...) :o
