Well that's interesting.

Do you have a question ?

Sorry yes forgot to ask. I know that the unit is capable of reading texts but since owning the car it has never worked. My Samsung s9 pairs straight away with the car but the text option never works. The tab is not there. Was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and managed to get it to work with a new bluetooth module.
Cheers.

NB1 has never read text messages to me, although I believe it is supposed to. Had assumed it was an Apple (in)compatibility issue.

Perhaps try & pair a friend's phone- see if that makes a difference?
An Android type perhaps.

Yes it's a Samsung s9+android. I have tried my wife's iPhone 8 and that is the same. They don't display any messages as the message tab isn't there it never was.

My NB1 has never read texts either, the messages tab always greyed out. I’m sure I read somewhere that if you delete all the texts on your phone and then pair it, it will then start reading the texts as they come in. I have message threads going back years on my phone so never tried this myself so can’t vouch for it.

The message tab isn't even there.

Sorry, it could well be that the tab wasn’t there for me either, the little grey cells are disappearing faster than I’d like  :( I haven’t got access to the car today to check unfortunately.

More irritatingly a few months ago the NB1 unit stopped downloading my favourite contacts (I never downloaded the whole phonebook as that takes a loooong time, so had phone and unit set to only share favourites). I never found out why this happened, was it an iOS update? Anyway, I now have it set not to share any contacts which means I can readily receive calls but cannot make them unless a passenger uses the phone to initiate the call for me.

If anyone knows a fix for this one, I'd love to know.

Apologies for drifting off-thread...

I get text messages no problem in my car using a Oneplus 6 and a Oneplus 3 before it so it does work with at least some Android phones.  However, when you pair the phone the first time you need to give the connection access to SMS messages - a message normally pops up on the phone asking for permission.  Possibly try deleting the bluetooth pairing from both the car and phone and then try pairing again completely fresh and see if the phone requests permission to display sms.  However, my car is the later version so may be slightly different to yours.

Fangface yes it does ask for permission to access contacts and messages which I allow but still doesn't work, I've unpaired and repaired numerous times to no avail. Tried removing aud1 and aud2 fuses I've disconnected the battery and pressed the brake pedal 10 times nothing seems to work though. My only options now are either replace the bluetooth module for a later one or replace the head unit I think.

Have you done a search on the forum using the search term "Bluetooth"  ?    There are many instances surrounding the head unit, that might be of interest to you.
