OEM running boards??
« on: October 18, 2016, 03:41:17 pm »
I have found a seller who claims that his running boards are the OEM ones that Mazda EU supply.
I have asked him if these would foul the jacking points and he assures me they don't.
Only thing bothering me is that to fit them involves removing the original skirts for the new boards to fit in place of.

Has anyone had the OEM ones fitted and witnessed if this is the case?

I'm a bit nervous about dismantling part of the car (not to mention what 'er indoors is gonna say)

I'd appreciate any input. Oh and these are £160.00 including delivery.

I've had these fitted but didn't witness it. It did take the garage longer than they thought, but ask your vendor to scan and email you the fitting instructions which should clarify what's required.

These are the running boards referred too. (sorry Admin, didn't know about the picture issue when I posted)

I've asked them to send me fitting instructions to see if it is something I am capable of doing.

If you are going with the above, you will need this:

Thanks, that will help no end twabrigs. I'm still a bit nervous of cutting bits out of the car though. Going to have a serious thing as to whether to proceed with these.

I like them I have to say, although they don't do exactly what I wanted them to do, which was allow me to stand on them with the door closed to put bikes on and off the roof...you need prehensile toes to do that as there's only about 0.5" of room with the door closed. But they do help with the doors open and they look nice. Also helpful for kids or older passengers to get in and out.

Worth the £500+ for purchase, shipping and fitting? Probably not logically but I would do it again on balance. I'll have the car for a few years so if you absorb the cost over the lifetime of ownership it ain't too bad.
