Title: bonnet lift/struts
Post by: nigelinfrance on June 04, 2018, 02:52:58 pm
Has anybody fitted bonnet lift/struts similar to the ebay link? Have got tendon trouble in right arm and the bonnet is heavy!!!

I bought the ones from Alibaba - for 26 USD.
Installing them took some 10 mins, and they work like aflawlessly.

It seems that I cannot modify my misspelled text? (the modify button does not work?)

Please read : Installing them took some 10 mins, and they work like as a charm.

Admin note :  The modify button seems to be working ok. Do you have any other functional problems with the forum ?

The Alibaba ones sound worth a punt; can't easily find them on their site, have you got more specifics?

(Admin : trying to delete my reply and add a new, correct reply didn't work neither)

Many thanks for the replies and the Alibaba link, have had stuff from them before with no problems so they will be shortly on their way.
Thanks again - Nigel

Nigel, you are very welcome.
Please note that Alibaba doesn't always include a "how-to-install" leaflet; since some people on the US and German forums complained about this,
please find attached how easy it is.

Thanks for the Alibaba link, looks like the ones for my older CX5 are £47 so I might pass. I don't lift the bonnet so frequently that I need to spend nearly £50 on struts.

Just a follow up - they arrived while we were in the UK so just fitted them. Piece of cake to fit and what a transformation - all for €21,94 including carriage.! Thanks to p38cyq for the info.

Title: Recent installation: bonnet lift/struts

Just wondering if anyone had recently fitted some bonnet struts to ease opening of the bonnet?

If so, any supplier recommendations appreciated ;D

Hi,
Have just fitted gas struts to my 71 plate CX5.  Fitting took about 10 mins and has transformed access to the engine bay.
