Title: 2015 onwards New drivers door mirror required
Post by: xtrailman on December 05, 2015, 06:57:15 am
Wife has managed to forget to close the mirrors reversing out of the garage!!  >:(

Not happy as car isnt one month old yet. Still she has a far better accident record than me, so after 24 hours i've resigned myself to the cost of replacing it.  I have decided not to go through the insurance.

Apart from bigal who had to replace the older type mirror, i don't suppose anyone has replaced a mirror yet?
If so what did you pay, and did you go through the dealer?

Has it damaged the cowling or just the mirror. If cowling damaged then it will probably need painting as i doubt they come already coloured. Still for something small you could probably use a spray can.

I'm afraid  the main body is damaged, splintered into about ten pieces.
The back silver painted cowl is ok to reuse, as is the bottom black cover, the mirror is also undamaged.

I'm having it replaced next week, i have a price which is reasonable but i forgot to ask if it included vat, i'll post next week after wednesday and let you know.

So final cost £193.  :o

And i have the original glass intact as a possible spare unless it breaks removing it.

Jap spares wanted £225  delivered that's not including fitting and only 3 months warranty.

That's less than I paid to replace the one on my MK1, even factoring in that I didn't pay for the glass as they broke it getting it apart (which happens most of the time, apparently). If that is for the version with the BSM system built in, I'm even more impressed!

No BSM.
