Soul Red aerosol

Passenger door mirror had a close encounter with a road works sign so a new plastic cover and mirror glass were ordered. Also ordered a tin of Soul Red Crystal from eBay. When it arrived there were two tins - ground coat and mid coat. I already had a tin of lacquer. After several coats of each it is now fitted and looks reasonable but definitely not as sparkly as the rest of the car. Is this an inherent failing of aerosols or is there a knack to getting it sparkly? BTW until now I didn't realise there are two Soul Reds - 41V and 46V.

There's actually been 3 reds used on the CX5 - Zeal Red from 2012, Soul Red from 2015 then Soul Crystal Red from 2017 (I think)
