Title: European maps update
Post by: Deepjoy22 on December 21, 2017, 08:33:25 pm
I've just checked (via Mazda Toolbox) and there is an update for European maps (Y2017 M12) which some of you may be interested to download.

Happy Christmas from Mazda I guess.

Yes. Uploaded it last week, and was pleased the download and installation only took 1 hour @ 200mps Broadband as against double that for the 2016 download. What is disappointing is that it appears already well out of date as we had a large number of Areas in Edinburgh reduced to 20mph mid August, which have not been updated.

If it's of use, according to the Mazda web site, you can report faults / updates in maps to HERE (who do the maps)

Quote "You can use Map Creator on the HERE Maps website to report changes to roads, tunnels, bridges and other places near you. To make additions or changes to a location on the map: Select the area you wish to edit, enter the appropriate additions or changes, and then click to log a change request".

Do you know how large (in Gb) the download is? I'm on a limited tarrif and I'm keen to update before my data usage renews. However, I don't want to run out of allowance mid-download (and risk a corrupted sat nav)!

Thanks,

K

It’s 4027MB according to this page

https://mazda-eu.naviextras.com/shop/portal/newCatalog?view=item&salesPackageCode=262987

So roughly 4GB (Gigabytes) or if you do want Gb (Gigabits) then roughly 32.

Well.  I've downloaded and tried to install the update.  My Internet usage reset today so, just before the download I was at about 0.3GB.  I'm now at 7.8GB!!!!!!  Thank goodness I waited until the start of the new month.

But, even worse is this: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GESgZ7DypPovS8vHH0KUTkO_fdkXsh8r (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GESgZ7DypPovS8vHH0KUTkO_fdkXsh8r)  The last time I looked I was at 88% installed.  Now it's a server error.  I'm not sure whether it needs to connect to complete, whether I've got to do it all again or whether it's just a check to confirm that it's finished.

I'll check again later I guess.

Grrr.

Update:

I put the SD card back in the car and the maps loaded ok. I connected the system to the Internet via my phone... all ok (with the roads colouring in to show traffic conditions). I have since put the SD card back in the computer and this time it connected ok. No map updates were available so I guess all is ok :)

Yes.

And it seems that the download is an incremental one, that is that only changed files are downloaded.
Took me 5 minutes (EU maps).
