Having just bought a new CX-5 Sport Nav+ I was a bit disappointed with the stock interior light bulbs - just felt very retro compared with a lot of other aspects of the car.
Bit of digging found a suitable bulb instead of the £45 that Mazda want to supply them - the only issue being the front ones don't fit as well and need to be angled due to the extra bit behind the bulb housing - they do still fit ok when titled in the direction of the driver/passenger though.
Bulbs were from Auto Bulbs Direct and are the Ring RW2696LED 31mm long (269 type bulb) set of 6 (one spare as they come in packs of two) cost a whopping £25.50 inc VAT and delivered.
Will last a log longer than standard filament bulbs, kick out less heat whilst saving money on the cost of Mazdas bulb kit.

I’ve always preferred to buy aftermarket LED bulbs from a well known manufacturer like Ring, Philips or Osram etc. so this is is a helpful tip - thanks.
Having said that, I have also, bought replacement interior LED bulbs which have worked well from this supplier before https://www.auto-lighting.co.uk. In particular, this bulb for the vanity mirror lights

In my 2015 CX-5 the glove box bulb was a 501 which are widely available. I believe it remains on all the time the lights are on though (doesn’t operate on opening/closing the glovebox) and its a small space so I looked for a fairly low power (low lumen) and therefore, low heat, non-Canbus version. It was a fiddle to change and as I recall, I found it easier to drop the glove box and remove the little plastic tray the bulb sits in. I couldn’t find instructions for changing that bulb in the manual so a few close-up photos taken with a camera phone helped.

Fitted these today. They look great in my eyes but ‘the other half’ thinks they’re too bright when looking in the mirror and the wrong colour for putting on make-up. She would prefer a warm-white version of these bulbs.
