New to The CX-5
« on: February 01, 2014, 11:15:33 pm »
Hi and a big thank you to the UK CX-5 forum, hope it proves to be informative and successful. I have just ordered a CX-5 2.0L Sport with Sat Nav in Artic White. I will take delivery on the 25th May (when I retire) and needless to say I can not wait to own my first new car.(been driving a company car for the last 39 years) Why a CX-5? I have carried out a huge amount of research on new SUVs available, and narrowed my choice down to the following, Kia Sportage, Ford Kuga, Toyota Rav 4 and the CX-5. After test driving them all several times and checking out all the stats and owner reviews, I went with the CX-5, hope I have made the right choice! This is where I am looking for support from the forum... Need reassurance and comments that I have made the correct decision!!!
Will keep you posted after May when I take delivery.

McDon,

welcome, I agree you have made the right choice we have had ours 18 months first 10k on clock, great love the engine drives like a diesel upshifting into 6th at around 1850 revs.

did you thing about the Honda  CRVby any chance?

things I really like is reverse camera, touchscreen and ride height, you will also be impressed by the fuel economy especially on long runs got to remember its a 2.0 ltr petrol in a SUV! lol. Also just getting in and out of it is so much easier.

I drove to Edinburgh and back at high speed still got 38mpg.

Thanks for the positive feedback rmvf, looked at the Honda CRV, however the CX-5 proved to be better value, and just looks better. May is proving a long way to wait until I take delivery!!!!!!!!!

I agree but still like the Honda lets say second best, we were lucky ordered before release and tsunami which caused quite a bit of waiting on the old list.

Hi Davey, welcome to the forum, enjoy your CX-5. Sounds you got a good deal! I have to wait till the last week in May to collect mine. Quick question, is yours the updated 2014 model?

It has updated suspension, and both front seats have electric adjustment and memory with the drivers seat as standard in the sport model.
How is the new car, covered a few miles already?

I think my model is 2014 but was made around December 2013, so may not be latest updated model (probably why it was discounted) cos dealer never tells you that! He did tell us we would have to wait 3-4 months for delivery if we didn't take this one .We need a new car for end of May so were happy to proceed.
Very pleased so far, only done a few miles ,so still learning.
Getting used to i-Stop etc.one thing i noticed was  when changing gear from 2nd to 3rd it sometimes feels as though it wants 1st gear,so i am aware of this ,probably just the way the gear selection works ,not a problem once you know what to expect.
On the whole very happy ;D
