What do you love about your CX5 ?

Nights are drawing in, it's cold and windy and the media is full of doom and gloom. Forums tend to be a magnet for negative comments, with owners moaning about faults, dealers, and generally what an unhappy bunch we all are.....So how about having a positive comments only thread for us to extoll the virtues and favourite features of your CX 5. We've had ours for nearly two months and we love it ! Why are you glad you bought yours?

Our favourite features for starters :

The smart key feature - walk away and the car is locked
The auto folding mirrors - I can see the car is locked !
The adaptive headlights

I hope there is a off switch for it, that function is no use to me.

My likes are the steering feel and the handling for a SUV, but my biggest like is the diesel engine its brilliant.

a seasonal vote for the heated seats...also in any season the pull the engine has

This is my first SUV after years of saloon and hatchback cars so the first thing I like is the higher driving position to see more.  I am also looking forward to winter after having half a day earlier in the year driving in the snow and having a great time with the AWD powering past all the stranded vehicles - pretty petty but I do love passing stranded BMWs more than any other type of car

Somewhat of a rarity at the moment from what I see from members profiles, but my biggest likes are the ultra smooth automatic gearbox linked to the 2.2 diesel motor. Only time will tell whether or not my comments remain favourable and perhaps, in the fullness of time, someone should start a long use thread.

I'm glad you like the Auto as I'm picking my first ever auto up on Wednesday if all goes to plan.

It will be my 5th AWD car and my 4th SUV.

I agree with pretty much all of the above but particularly:

• The smart keyless entry/auto lock feature
• The way the car drives and handles so well
• the brilliant flexible diesel engine

To add a couple of others:

• The stone leather interior
• The silver/grey alloys
• 30 quid a year car tax!

Hi, New here to the CX-5 world but enjoying it already.

I particularly like: 
* The great driving position and sporty handling
* The pull of the 2.2 diesel whilst also getting good mpg and @ £30 road tax.
* The Sporty looks.

Haven't found anything I don't like yet   :-)

Gulp  Hope you're sitting down comfortable cos I'm now going to tell you that over here in Germany I am paying..........wait for it.........€307 or approx £216.69p. This is made up of €9.50 x 22 for every 100 cubic cm plus €2.00 x 49g/km over 95g/km.

Don't feel too bad as my car is  £130

Auto will be dearer. another £15 I think. Its only the two wheel drive manual cars that pay less.

The auto folding mirrors are an option we went for at outset. There's  not many options to choose from as the cx5 is pretty well specced. ... makes a change from some German cars where everything seems to be an option, hiking the price considerably.

That does seem a bit higher for car tax compared with the U.K. but I wonder how fuel prices, insurance and purchase price taxes compare?

Can't comment on purchase price because the available model range is different over here. For example, we don't have the 150PS in the Sports range which start at 175PS for the Diesel manual option and then you're probably looking at a price of around €36.000 (roughly) £25.376 before any dealer offers/negotiating etc.

My insurance which essentially has everything and with maximum no-claims bonus with one of the upper range of companies costs €560 (roughly £395) annually. I believe Diesel fuel is somewhat cheaper than over the pond although how it is regulated/prices determined is totally beyond me as it can change several times in one day. At my local Shell station an hour or so ago normal diesel was selling at €1.18/litre (£0.83/litre) and V-Power diesel at €1.36 (£0.96/litre).

That list price is very very cheap compared to what we pay.
Even after a £4K discount I've paid more.

Sorry to have strayed off topic a bit but it's an interesting exchange!

List price for the top spec CX-5 in the UK is £31,655 (€44,317 at 1.40 € to the £). That's the 175PS AWD auto in Soul Red which is the dearest paint option.  Only other options are the safety pack at £800 (€1,120 Euros) and Stone Leather at £200 (€280).

At the last fill-up I paid £1.08p (€1.51) per litre for diesel (previously, before the drop in crude prices, it was significantly higher at around £1.40 - €1.96) and my insurance was around £280 (€392) full comp with full protected no claims bonus (I'm the wrong side of 50 though!)

Just to confirm what Xtrailman said, annual car tax for the 175 PS AWD auto is £145 (€203)
