Title: Clinking sound from engine
Post by: kevyboy on May 21, 2017, 08:36:10 pm
Hi everyone, I have a 14 plate cx5 2.2d and I really like the car great to drive etc, I have owned it for 2 years and as the warranty is nearing its expiry date I thought I would get this noise from engine bay checked out at my local Mazda dealer.  The car runs perfect , nothing to worry about other than this noise that sounds like someone gently tapping two bottles together. After explaining over the phone to the service manager he investigated and said it was the vacuum chamber next to the turbo , he said it was common on cx5 and Mazda 3 models to have this noise and was nothing to worry about but he had moved the chamber slightly to try and alleviate the noise, but it really bugs me and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so have you solved it at all

Interesting.  I have what I describe as a low volume metal on metal ringing sound under acceleration.  Sounds like its coming from the passenger foot well.
