Michelin Latitude Sport 3
« on: January 18, 2018, 12:55:27 pm »
Got a nail in my NS Front tyre the other day and as both front Toyo Proxes were pretty worn out, I decided to replace both, rather than have the puncture repaired.

After a bit of Googling, I went with 2 x Michelin Latitude Sport 3 from Kwik Fit at £325.24 fitted. Not cheap but no-one could do 'em cheaper, especially as Kwik Fit have a free mobile fitting service if you buy 2 or more tyres. It's a really good service this and I recommend it - wouldn't go to one of their centres though.....

Anyway, the Michelin's are excellent with loads of grip in the wet, which is where you want it most obviously. Don't think there's any difference in road-noise but they do feel more stable and compliant over bumps than the Proxes. Mind, the Proxes were well worn, so the Michelins should be better across the board.

I've got those and I think they do have more grip in the wet than the Toyos.

You say Blackcircles but they will cost you £325.24 for a pair - same as Kwik Fit - and then you'll need to pay more to get them fitted. Kwik Fit mobile came to my house and fitted them for nowt. Kwik Fit also have a free Winter kit offer on that made them even better value.

After reading quite a few reviews, I'm understanding that getting 20K out of them is easily achievable, so go for them mate.

Cheers Fiver, I will check it out. I like to see the tyres before I buy, blackcircles quote is for a full fit etc its £145 for mail order, but ive just seen the toyo CF2 is now only £99 pounds a pop fitted and £82 mail order. if I get 25k out of these that ive got on I think I will stick with them, I do 10k a year with 75% being motorway, it wil be interesting got MOT due end of april get a full tread depth check across tyre is I will let the forum know.

Kwik fit home fitting is a good thing mine :)

Just fitted a set of these to mine, cost about £320 for 2 fronts, replacing the cheap nasties the dealer fitted before I bought it. Very impressed so far. My choice was between these and the Pirelli SUV tyres, decided to pay the little bit more and go Michelin. Will be fitting a set to the back before the winter too I imagine

I'd be very wary of fitting bargain tyres for a year. I fitted two cheapo front tyres to a Mondeo a few years back (can't remember the brand); they were irresistibly cheap and I needed them immediately not having spotted my fronts were shot. The grip was so dreadful especially in the wet that I changed them for proper (Michelin, Conti, Pirelli, GoodYear etc) ones within a fortnight. False economy.

good to hear feedback on Latitude tyres, i had PS4's for a year on the Focus ST TDCI before i got the Mazda in March and they were exceptional.

So once the Toyos wear out, i plan to fit the Latitudes to the car.

Check my post on the newer Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV which I assume has superseded the Latitude Sport.
Amazed at the prices people have paid as I got the set of 4 for £540 from Black Circles - but they are owned by Michelin.
