Well in all honesty it doesn't come much of a surprise to me. I'm also a subscriber to another CX-5 forum that is many times more populated than this one at the moment (reflection of UK numbers sold perhaps
) so highlights the problems that long term ownership is bringing up (and of course solutions or recommendations etc where possible and/or appropriate).
I'd also tend to agree with the surveys report of position 80 out of 200 for build quality which, only my opinion of course, is not commensurate with the cost of the CX-5. As an example, your everyday aluminium bake bean can has more thickness and stability than the fuel filler cap of this vehicle.
The quality of the carpet isn't much better. Try pulling the mats off the studs and the carpet lifts away from the floor rather than being fixed in place - what little carpet there is of course. One can't help but notice when on ones hands and knees to hoover around the pedals that the carpet looks more as though it's been torn off the roll rather than cut and stops at middle pedal height exposing acres of painted bodywork panel in the void with reduced sound proofing/insulation from the engine compartment/road as a result. My VW costing half the price of the CX-5 was better put together.
