Weird noise from engine bay
« on: December 09, 2016, 10:50:40 pm »
Well today I got home from passing my bike test, got changed went back out and started car, weird noise from engine bay. Popped bonnet asap with engine running to see that the washer bottle cap had dropped down and was sat rubbing against aux belt. The long plastic strap was just about out from the bottle, could have sworn I put it on correctly and that was a week Before!! Classing this as a close shave going to add secondary retention. I remember many years ago leaving oil rag stuffed behind a headlight managed to blow out and jam into the alternator. So moral of the thread ensure caps fitted properly  and never ignore anything out of ordinary. No damage to belt.
