Screenwash warning

The low screenwash warning on my car (from memory a beep and a written warning in the trip computer display) seems to have died as I ran out of screenwash the other day.

Any theories on a simple fix to save me paying the garage lots of folding stuff to do what could be a 5 minute job?

Answers like 'just top it up more often' are not what I'm looking for...

I haven't any experience with the washers on your particular car, but I'd think a low level warning light would be linked to a sensor in the reservoir.

Thanks, yes I suspect that too...and I bet it isn't easy to access. The good old days of reaching underneath the reservoir in my Metro to swap the front and rear washer motors round when one failed have long gone.

I don't like the phrase 'remove the front bumper' which instantly signals about an hour of workshop time..!

I may have to live without the warning.

After I changed from the 2012 to the 2015 model car, I ran out of fluid with no low fluid light appearing. I was told by the dealer that the newer model doesn't have a low fluid warning at all! I assume that is correct, I've never checked?

You could well be correct, Alan - my late 2015 model doesn't have this feature.

Thanks guys; I'll just tell myself my car has automatically upgraded itself to the newer spec by disabling this feature..!

Correct. Doesn't have one. I checked with my dealership at last service and was told a sensor was not fitted as the indicator was the water stopping when the reservoir was empty! (Thank you Invicta Tunbridge Wells, now (surprisingly) shut!)

Certainly since the 2016 facelift, we have the smaller screenwash bottle and no float switch. I can’t speak for the earlier models.
