Mazda Extended Warranty
« on: March 24, 2019, 12:41:23 pm »
The warranty on my CX-5 SEL AWD Auto expires on 29th March. Mazda want to sell me an extended warranty. The car has only done 25K . What experience have other members to report on similar cars over three years. What things could happen . Is it worth taking out the warranty, which is in effect like a new car . Cost is £ 325.00 for a year. Includes breakdown cover as well

That sounds like a good price, my extended Mazda warranty is £40 a month with breakdown and no excess, so £480 a year.

I considered it but there was something in the small print that put me off; I think it was the number of days that the roadside assitance covered outside the UK, which was important to me.

I had fully comprehensive extended cover on my last car for an additional 3yrs @ £275 a year after the original 3yrs ran out and never need it but didn't want to be the one taking the risk. Having said that I view comp. extended car cover the same as good travel insurance, I sort of hope it's a waste of money as it means nothing bad happened  :)
For me knowing all I have to pay out is £325 (as long as it covers everything) + a service for another years motoring in this day & age is worth it. Upgrading the car would £1000's more than that so if you're happy with it why change ?

On the Roadside Cover, does Mazda, like some others (Nissan), throw in "free" roadside cover,
at each annual service, once out of warranty period?

I realised this won't affect most members but here in Germany, the 'free' roadside recovery is solely dependent upon the vehicle having been serviced at the intervals prescribed by them and is completely independent of any extended guarantee. I seem to recall that we touched upon this subject a while back now and it would appear that the extended warranty offered by Mazda (which is handled by independent services anyway) is far more comprehensive to that offered in the UK.
