I'm in agreement with the current way, but wouldn't have a problem with just using the dial only rather than the touchscreen. I hadn't really thought about this until I took an XC40 for a test drive. That has almost EVERYTHING on the touchscreen. It's a big screen, true, but still awkward to operate and takes too much time to look at (and is hard to see in sunlight). Also, there's a limitation for these in RH drive cars - approximately 88-90% of people are right handed which means most will have to use the non-dominant hand to operate the screen. For LH drive cars, it makes a lot more sense.
