According to what I've read the full sized spare uses 0.1 mpg more than normal.
I weighed mine at around 27kg, and my towbar is around 21kg.

I believe the extra weight helps handling because the weight is nearer 50/50 than before, rather than front heavy.

Don't know about luxury carpets, but the first thing I fitted was a set of rubber mats for £29 from Amazon.
Perfect fit and heavy duty. Perfect at this time of year and I ended up only fitting carpet mats for a few dry months in the summer.
Far more practical than luxury carpet.
