Interior lights that do NOT switch off
« on: May 24, 2014, 03:47:02 pm »
Hi

Bought an ex-demo 2012 CX-5 in December 2013.  Have just noticed an unusual "feature" and wanted to know if anyone else has the same, or whether it's a fault that needs sorting out.

If any of the interior lights are switched on (including the vanity mirror) shutting the doors and locking the car does not switch them off.  Surely this can't be right, as the battery will drain and iStop will become even more erratic.

Thoughts anyone?

Check out the main interior light switch in the rear roof. I think it has 3 positions. Sorry can't check mine, or the handbook at present. I had a similar concern after 'little fingers' had been fiddling.

Yeah, checked that switch and it is set to "doors" rather than on or off.

Basically, if any of the lights are switched on by pushing them in, they never go off even when the doors are shut and the car is locked.

I'll take a trip to the dealer I think.

I'm sorry but I just can't see the problem here. If you switch the light on manually, then it will stay on until you switch it off.  Why would you think that the car would switch them off for you ?

Of your concern over the flattening of the battery, yes there is a danger of that.  All the more reason for you to check that there are no lights left on when you leave the car.
